THE CHOR-ORGAN OF ST. JOHANNES, WEINSBERG

This beautiful instrument has been built in 1989/1990 by Fa. Kaul Orgelbau. The original instrument has got 20 stops and a Bach Wohltemperiert tuning.

It is placed in the "Ostchor" of the more than 800 year old gothic Church of St. Johannes, Weinsberg.

Click [here] for details about the old church, its 3 organs (main organ, Ostchor organ and a Harmonium) and church music in Weinsberg.

As you might already know, the modification of the St. Johannes main organ (III+P / 34 stops, Weigle, 1956), which has been completed in 2005, has been supported by Prospectum. This was made possible by your St. Johannes sample set orders. Thank you very much !

About this sample set :

The St. Johannes sample set has been recorded in 96kHz/24bit using Schoeps CMC5/Mk21 microphones and DBX 386 preamps.
This time, our goal has not been to virtually "copy" the organ, but to create an instrument which is ideal with regard to quality, size (i.e. memory requirements), playability and extendability.

This sample set is special because it is ABSOLUTELY DRY (CONTAINS NO REVERBERATION !) and TRUE STEREO at the same time.
50 m² of absorbing foam were used to damp the reverberation of the gothic Ostchor of St. Johannes, where the organ resides.

Furthermore, we extended the sample set to 34 stops plus a nice, expressive Trompete 8´ (Hauprwerk 3 version). The Trompete stop has been recorded using a Neumann TLM 103 mircophone and an RME Octamic Preamp and processed with our new MLP (PROSPECTUM Multi Layer Processing) technology.

Our virtual St. Johannes organ is ideal for you if you

- want to have a maximum of articulation possibilities (Staccati, very fast parts etc. sound much more natural)
- are looking for a practising organ (because of the very clear dry sound)
- own or plan to buy reverberation hardware/software
